Two Farm Flood Photos from the Past
Near Rio Oso, Sutter County, California. Family returning to their home after the 1940 flood of the Sacramento River. “Been on this place for 7 years.” Mother born in Virginia, lived and married in Texas on stock farm. Grubbed out 20 acres of river bottom lands near the levee. Flooded out 2 years ago (1938) again in 1940. Lost 600 laying hens in 1938. Department of Agriculture. Bureau of Agricultural Economics.
